Bernedoodle colors
A Bernedoodle inherits its colour from both parents — the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. Here are the colours you'll commonly see, which are rarer, and which come with a health note.
| Colour | Notes |
|---|---|
| Tri-colour | Classic black + white + rust, like the Bernese. |
| Black & white (bi) | Common. |
| Black & rust | Two-colour. |
| Solid black | Common. |
| Sable | Banded hairs; shade shifts as the coat grows. |
| Phantom | Tan points; uncommon. |
| Merle ⚠️ | Only from a merle parent — read the health note below. |
⚠️ About merle Bernedoodles: merle is a beautiful pattern, but breeding two merle dogs together can produce "double-merle" puppies with a high risk of deafness and blindness. A responsible breeder never pairs merle × merle. Read the merle genetics & health guide →
Rarer colours are often priced higher by breeders, but colour has no effect on health or temperament — don't pay a premium for a "rare" colour alone. Coat colour can also shift as a puppy matures. See how it works.
